- How are the flies in your barn? Driving you nuts, try closing up all the windows and
doors once a week and bug-bomb it. That should really cut back on some buzzing bugs and spiders too...
- Did You know? That fly spray in the big one gallon jugs they sell for Cow's has the
exact same ingredients as the little spray bottles they sell for horses? Read some labels you might be surprised!
- If you really need to save some green on fly spray, mix blue dawn (the original in the
hazy looking bottle) with half vinegar and really spray away!
- Now that you have more fly spray then you can shake a stick at, get one of those
big one gallon pump sprayers with the wand from the hardware store (you know the kind you use to spray your flowers). They won't spook your horse like the little hand squeeze bottles do for some horses.
- Do you need lights in your barn? Here is a simple low cost, energy efficient way to
light your barn. Low voltage landscape lighting, the kind that you can find at any hardware store (i.e. Lows or Home Cheapo). They even come in kits, I recommend the spotlight kits (pictures at right) with auto timers. Also they are horse safe! Low voltage means no accidental biting of wires and getting injured! Plus anyone with a staple gun and a couple of hours can install these lights.
- Check out our automatic waterer's, third one down on their web site, all plastic. You
might think what about freezing, if you look at the bottom of them I installed shut-off and drain valves. So if the weather is going to get too cold and there are no horses in the stalls. You can drain them off and keep them from freezing. Not to mention they are on average only 30 bucks, I installed them before last "07" winter and they are holding up great.
- On the left are some of the great places that have helped us get to where we are.
Especially check out the Farm Supply Store they have the best prices on electric fence anywhere!...
